Xiaomi is working on a new Redmi device. The smartphone will be called as Redmi Note 5. There have been several leaks and rumours of the device in the past few weeks. There have even been live images of the phone doing rounds on web. Now a website has revealed the price of the upcoming Redmi Note 5 and it is shocking.
As per a report from gizmo china, Redmi Note 5 was seen in the list of prizes for a contest which will be hosted by Xiaomi’s China MIUI forum. The listing shows Redmi Note 5 priced at 699 Yuan which means it could be priced near about Rs 6800 in India.
However, the same gizmo china report also suggests that it could be a typographical error and the company might have intended to write Note 5A which is also price 699Yuan.
Redmi Note 5 was also spotted on OppoMart website in November. The listing gives away some of the major specs of the phone. It suggests that Redmi Note 5 will sport a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. This means that the phone will come with a nearly edge-to-edge screen.
The Redmi Note 5 could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. This contradicts a previous rumour that suggests the smartphone could be powered by Snapdragon 636 chipset. The device is said to run Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 and juiced up by a 4,000mAh battery.
On the optics front, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to come with 12MP back camera and a 5MP camera on the front. Past rumours have it that Redmi Note 5 could sports dual 16MP+ 5MP cameras on back. Redmi Note 5 is rumoured to run Android 7.1.2 Nougat but there are also chances that Xiaomi could bring Android Oreo with the new phone.
There are also talks that Xiaomi could launch two variants of Redmi Note 5, one with Qualcomm for markets like India and one with a MediaTek processor for China.
